Britney's Pap Pal Surprised by Restraining Order Rumor

Britney Spear's photographer boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib, was surprised to learn of rumors that the pop star has requested a restraining order against him.

"All I can say is that I have not been in contact with Britney since early Friday morning," Ghalib says in a message posted on the Web site of his employer, FinalPixx. "The reason being, that I have has to attend a family funeral in Santa Barbara. My phone has been off during this time out of respect for my family. I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears."

The news of a the supposed restraining order came from two paparazzi who were invited into Spears's home at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, and spent several hours with the singer and her longtime friend Sam Lutfi.

According to one of the photographers, Lutfi said that they'd filed a request for a restraining order against Ghalib because they want him "out of Britney's life."

"Britney asked us to leave the cameras in the car, and
 she poured some champagne for us. She was very sweet," said one of the photographers. "Sam was telling us to not worry about Adnan because they have filed a restraining order against 
him."

The Los Angeles police department says they are "not aware" of any emergency protective orders issued against Ghalib. The L.A. Sheriff's department also says no order was issued.

A.J. McLean: I Believe in Britney Spears 110%

Britney Spears is getting another offer of help – this time from Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean

"I believe in her 110 percent, but she needs to call [me]," the pop star, 30, told PEOPLE Thursday at the Hysteric Glamour VIP preview party. "If her publicist or somebody can get in touch with me, I just want to sit down with her and have it out."

Asked what he'd offer to Spears, McLean says, "First I would say, 'What the hell is wrong with you?' Second I would say, 'What is really wrong with you? What are you not saying to everybody else?' "

McLean, a recovering alcoholic who also happened to rise to fame around the same time as Spears, says he thinks he knows part of what the 26-year-old star is going through.

"She has given people hints of her troubles, but fear is a really big thing, and depression. ... I've been through it. I'm coming up on six years sober," he said at the party hosted by Tracey Ross at her Sunsent Plaza store in West Hollywood. "I just want to sit her down and pick her brain."

'Do You Want to Die?'

Ultimately, McLean says he believes the troubled singer wants to – and can – get her life back in order. " [I want to be] just someone who can tell her straight. I'll say, 'Hey, do you want to die? Is that what you want?' If that is what she really wanted, she would have done it already. I know that is not what she wants," he says.

McLean also said Spears's pregnant 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn has had a rough go but will be okay.

"You look at Jamie Lynn now and it is like, of course, she has no one to look up to," McLean says. "But I think she has a chance. Everyone has a chance to turn it around."

Deborah Gibson Comments on Britney Spears

DEBORAH GIBSON is one pop princess who is still going strong, with a career that began in the '80s when she was only 16 years old. She attributes a portion of her longevity to the fact that she has never been drunk in her life, done drugs, or even smoked a cigarette.

"If you want to be a good entertainer, you pretty much have to live a boring life," the "Only in My Dreams" singer says.

This despite publicity people encouraging her to add a little scandal to her life to help her career: "I'm like, 'You know what? Let the music speak for itself, and if it takes longer to get the attention, that's just fine.' [The scandalous life] is the easier road actually, that's what's scary about that," she tells ET.

Gibson credits her mother for being a stabilizing force in her life, and wishes that BRITNEY SPEARS had someone similar to help her through her own rough patch.

She says of the troubled pop star: "At this point, she's not in her right mind to make decisions for herself, and this is not her fault anymore. She has gotten away from the music, and, more importantly, she has gotten away from being a mom. There needs to be one person that is keyed into her mental wellbeing, and there is not that person around right now. I fear for her life at this point."

Gibson, who will be appearing at Harrah's in Atlantic City, May 6-24, is giving of her talent to other aspiring, young entertainers. She will oversee the vocal department at two two-week sessions at Camp Electric Youth, a performing arts summer day-camp geared towards serious performers ages 7 to 17, which she set up.

"I think on a business level -- and on an emotional level -- parents should learn how to care for a young performer, because being a young performer is a very intense and unique thing. It comes with its share of mental turmoil and different circumstances. I think that literally it should be taught, and we are going to do that as well. I set up this camp on my own. I want this to be really grassroots. It's been really scary and overwhelming in that regard."

Britney Spears to Host Beverly Hills Party

Britney Spears will host a party, The Scandinavian Style Mansion, at a private residence in Beverly Hills on Feb. 16, PEOPLE has learned.

Britney last hosted the event – at which Scandinavian brands are showcased – on Dec. 1. At that party, she was presented with a birthday cake and bumped into her one-time BFF Paris Hilton.

"Britney has said 'yes,' to hosting it," Claus Hjelmbak, the Danish businessman who founded the event, tells PEOPLE. "I am beyond excited because the experience she gave everyone in December was amazing. She absolutely made my event."

Hjelmbak, who was at Spears's side when she and Sam Lutfi went on an early morning shopping spree Jan. 17 at Kitson in L.A., told PEOPLE of the outing: "I know people will say it's weird she was shopping at 2 a.m., but [Kitson] said you guys can always come when you want. I just called the owner and said can we come over and they said 'sure.'"

Hjelmbak also has kind words for Lutfi, saying, "He's the most down-to-earth, easy-going guy. He doesn't have a bad bone in his body." As for Adnan Ghalib, he said, "I don't know him."

As for online reports claiming Spears has multiple personalities, Hjelmbak, who first met Britney in 2006, says, "I have only seen one person and that's the Britney I first met and seen every time. She's a very sweet person."

Britney Misses Hearing, K-Fed Keeps Kids

Britney Spears still may not visit her children, a court commissioner ruled Monday, following a custody hearing the pop singer missed.

Kevin Federline, who testified at the session, maintains sole legal and physical custody of their two sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, "indefinitely," a court spokesman says.

"The word victory is not something Mr. Federline or his counsel would ascribe to this situation," Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said. "His hope is that he will be able to parent the children at some point in the future with participation from the mother."

In a bizarre and chaotic scene outside the courthouse, Spears arrived for the afternoon session of the proceedings – but abruptly left the courthouse after paparazzi surrounded her.

"I'm scared. I want to get in the car. I'm going in the car," she said after stepping out of the car as photographers crowded around her.

Spears, 26, then got back in the car. Police tried to coax her out, but she slammed her back against the seat and shouted, "No!" Spears's car eventually drove off.

Church and Lunch

Spears, who had also missed the morning session, then drove to the Little Brown Church near her home in Studio City, where she went inside briefly.

"She wasn't even there for long, just in and out," said assistant pastor Michael Kosik, who noted that even though Spears was wearing white she "did not try to get married." "I think she just needed to get away."

Spears then had lunch at the Gaucho Grill with her paparazzi pal Adnan Ghalib, friend Sam Lutfi and a third man.

"Britney was very quiet and seemed sad and upset," the singer's waitress says. "She wore her sunglasses inside. ... She seemed drained."

The court hearing had focused on Spears's four-hour Jan. 3 standoff with police, firefighters and paramedics at her Studio City home. Events that evening resulted in Spears being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and later being stripped of visitation rights.

Five witnesses testified at the hearing, including two police officers, the court-appointed custody monitor and Federline's bodyguard – who all were at Spears's house during the standoff. Also testifying was a parenting coach who was not at the scene.

A trial in the case is set for April.

The always outspoken Janice Dickinson sat down with Access Hollywood's Tony Potts and unleashed her thoughts on Britney Spears, Spears' mom and Dr. Phil.

Dickinson feels in order to get to the root of Spears' problems, Lynne Spears should be held responsible.

"My opinion on Britney Spears, is Mrs. [Lynne] Spears should be jailed. Britney's mom is responsible for all this stuff going on."

As for how Dickinson would handle Spears?

"I'd slap her silly! I'd slap the living s**t out of her!" Dickinson told Potts.

After taking a moment to seriously consider the question, Dickinson told Potts, "I would beg Britney just to give it all up. I would say. 'You're rich enough! Give it up and try to focus on the two boys.' I seriously hope that Britney doesn't kill herself. I seriously hope that she doesn't damage herself."

But Spears and her mother were not the only ones Dickinson was taking on. As for her thoughts on Dr. Phil, the former model said, "I think Dr. Phil is pathetic. Pathetic sensationalism."

Dickinson has faced her own set of demons. Now in recovery, Dickinson has had multiple stints in rehab. She credits the Alcoholic Anonymous Twelve Step program with saving her life.

"I am an alcoholic and a chemically dependent person, said Dickinson. "I would just beg Britney to try to find a twelve-step program for her that works, because, like [with] myself, it can happen again and again until you finally find it. Thank God I found it."

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears’ effort to regain visitation rights with her two small children is back on the court docket for what an attorney described Sunday as “the most significant hearing in the case so far.”

Police and emergency medical technicians who were summoned to her home Jan. 3 in a standoff involving her refusal to return the boys to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, will testify Monday, probably behind closed doors, his lawyer said.

“I don’t know if she will be there,” Mark Vincent Kaplan told The Associated Press, but he suggested she would have to appear in person if she wants to press her request to see her children. “You can’t phone this one in.”

If Spears comes to court, Kaplan said she would be expected to testify. “She will have the opportunity to persuade the court that she can have some visitation under monitored conditions,” he said.

Sources told celebrity Web site TMZ.com that Spears’ lawyers know that Comissioner Scott Gordon is expecting the pop star to address the custody showdown at her home on the evening of Jan. 3

Phone and e-mail messages requesting comment from Spears’ attorneys Sunday afternoon were not immediately returned.

Kaplan said he knew it was only a temporary measure when he obtained emergency court orders two weeks ago granting sole physical and legal custody to Federline.

“These are very, very draconian orders,” Kaplan said. “Because of that the court wanted to have a hearing to give her and her attorneys the opportunity to refute some of the declarations.”

“No judge likes making orders terminating a person’s involvement with their kids,” Kaplan said.

Meanwhile, police were preparing for a media frenzy in the downtown civic center if Spears appears, issuing warnings Sunday that vehicle and pedestrian violations would lead to citations.

Kaplan said that if Spears comes to court, he would like to cross-examine her on the events of Jan. 3.

Whisked away
Police were called by a court appointed monitor when Spears refused to hand over Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2, to Federline’s security guard and locked herself in a room with one of the boys.

Spears was taken to a hospital in an ambulance chased by photographers and was placed on an involuntary hold on grounds she was a danger to herself or others. Spears left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center a day and half later.

The day after the incident, Kaplan presented papers to Gordon, who awarded sole legal and physical custody of the boys to Federline and suspended Spears’ visitation rights.

Kaplan said if visitation is restored, it would be under more restrictions than those originally imposed by Gordon.

One expert in family law agreed that the hearing provides Spears her only hope of resuming visits with her children before a custody trial scheduled for April.

“Usually, when someone has the threat of losing their children, they’ll do anything to get their children back,” said Lynn Soodik, who predicted visitation rights could be restored if Spears appears and offers an explanation.

“This is not a punishment for her,” Soodik said. “It’s what’s in the best interest of the children. The judge has to carefully weigh their safety versus not seeing their mother. It’s drastic to have no contact with their mother.”

Soodik said Gordon could order monitored visitation in a location away from Spears’ home “in some kind of setting where the judge can assure that she wouldn’t be able to lock the kids in a room with her.”

In other plans demonstrating how fragile her mental state is at the moment, friends report the troubled popstar has also considered faking her own death in order to reinvent herself.

A pal tells the News Of The World, "She's been discussing all these wacky plans to reinvent her life. She has discussed in depth a fake death, moving abroad and even plastic surgery. It is scary to hear her romanticise about these insane plans.

"She believes she could spend six months away and make a comeback as Britney the world's best mother."

Britney has also talked about how important her new man, paparazzi boss Adnan Ghalib, is to her now.

She reportedly told a doubting relative of his over the phone, "We're taking care of each other. He's the only one who understands me. It's serious."

Something borrowed, something ... leased?

Revisiting her wedding look, Britney Spears donned one of two dresses from her Kevin Federline nuptials to go to a car dealership last week with her new paparazzi friend.

Spears, 26, and Adnan Ghalib, 35, arrived at the Keyes Mercedes-Benz dealership in the San Fernando Valley on Friday afternoon, surrounded by the now-familiar pack of photographers that once contained Ghalib.

The twist was the pop singer was wearing the same lacy, short dress from her 2004 wedding to Federline – her second walk down the aisle following her 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander.

Spears's own Mercedes was impounded last week after she abandoned it on the road when it blew a tire, but this trip to the dealer was for Ghalib, her constant companion since her meltdown.

"They came in to get an estimate for a new car for him," a sales associate says. "He drives a rental car now. ... He was looking into the different lease and purchase options for sport cars."

By the time they started talking business, Spears had covered up with a trench coat, the sales person says.

"She didn't talk at all and it didn't seem like she was getting the car for him," the sales associate says.
